KOBI threaded plates: what types are there
Based on profile design
- Full-profile — the geometry fully corresponds to the profile of the finished thread. They form both the groove and the tooth top in a single pass, ensuring an ideal shape and high precision.
- Non-full-profile (universal) — one insert can cut threads with different pitches, but preliminary work on the workpiece is required to obtain the correct profile.
- With a chip breaker - special geometry for efficient chip crushing, which is especially important when processing viscous materials.
According to the thread standard
The KOBI range includes two main types:
- ISO — metric thread with a 60° profile angle (the most common). A full‑profile plate forms a thread with a specified pitch ranging from 0.5 to 5.0 mm.
- W - cylindrical pipe thread (Whitworth profile, 55°). It is indicated by the number of threads per inch, for example 11W (11 threads per inch).
There are also plates marked AG (universal profile) and N (NPT - conical pipe thread).
