DKF is a series of three‑sided disk cutters with replaceable multi‑point inserts (MPIs) from the Turkish manufacturer MBC Cutting Tools. DKF cutters are designed for milling grooves, channels, ledges and cutting workpieces on milling and horizontal milling machines, as well as on CNC equipment.

Application area of DKF disc cutters

  • Cutting grooves and channels of a specified width and depth;
  • Trimming ledges and end surfaces;
  • Cutting workpieces from steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other metals;
  • Processing narrow surfaces — cutters operate under harsh conditions of non‑free (closed from several sides) cutting.

DKF disc cutters are three‑sided: the cutting edges are located on the cylindrical part and on both ends, which allows you to process both the bottom of the groove and the side walls in a single pass.

Here, CC is the shape of the plate (a rhombus with an angle of 80°), M or G is the tolerance class (M — standard, G — higher precision), T is the hole for the fastening screw.

The inserts are not included in the cutter set — they must be purchased separately.

  • Body — steel, mounting hole for a mandrel (W27, W32 or W40, depending on the diameter);
  • Plate fastening — screw-based, with Torx screws (M2.5×6 for 0602 plates, M3.5×8 for 09T3/1204 plates; T08 or T15 wrench);
  • Body material — steel;
  • Country of origin — Turkey.

  • Accuracy — inserts with G tolerance (CCGT) ensure high accuracy of the slot walls, inserts with M tolerance (CCMT) are suitable for universal applications.

Operating recommendations

  • At least one tooth of the milling cutter must participate in the cutting process;
  • Control the chip thickness — optimize the feed per tooth;
  • Use the stiffest mandrel with the minimum overhang;
  • Follow‑milling is preferable (less vibration, better surface quality), but it requires a rigid machine and no gaps in the ball screw;
  • Backmilling is an alternative when the system lacks rigidity or there are problems with chip evacuation from deep grooves.
