Pneumatic machine vise Kottami

Share:

In the modern world of mechanical engineering and metalworking, machine vises are an indispensable tool for fixing and processing parts on various machines. One of the most popular types of vises are machine-made pneumatic vises.Such a vise instantly clamps the parts with the force of compressed air. This saves workers' efforts and increases the efficiency of the equipment by 20-40%.

Kottami is a company that has already established itself in the clamping tool market. In particular, thanks to its machine pneumatic vises of the TP 95.300 and T P 95G 2 series.

Pneumatic vice TP 95.300

Adjustable clamping force.

  • Working pressure - from 1 to 8 bar
  • Sponge stroke - 3 mm
  • Dimensions - 170 x 147 x 156 mm
  • Length of jaws - 105 mm
  • Repeatability of parts positioning - ±0.002 mm
  • Clamp width - 85 mm
  • Weight - 12 kg

Operating principle

The supply of 8 bar air pressure into the lower hole creates a lifting force in the cylinder inside the vice.

The internal vice mechanism increases the force to lower the wedge. It transmits it to the rod with the wedge, the wedge stroke in the vertical direction is 6 mm.

The rod, lowering the wedge, moves the sponge from under the wedge, clamping the workpiece, the stroke of the sponge is 3 mm.

Advantages

Increasing equipment productivity by 20-40% due to easy and quick change of parts, reducing worker fatigue, which allows one operator to service a larger number of machines.

  • Stable clamping force on the part.
  • Possibility of smooth regulation of the clamping force using a pressure regulator. Sponge stroke = 3 mm.
  • The wedge mechanism for moving the working jaw completely eliminates the possibility of it lifting when clamping the part.
  • The ability to process almost any part while using several yews at the same time.
  • The ability to change the direction of travel of the jaw in the opposite direction, which allows you to clamp a large part with minimal protrusion above the jaw.
  • Possibility of use in automated systems for installing and removing workpieces into the machine.
  • Possibility of clamping three parts simultaneously using 2 yews and a double wedge.
  • Possibility of increasing the jaw stroke by 2 times - up to 6 mm by changing the shape of the wedge and jaw - 1/1

Installation rules

  1. Install the vice on the machine’s work table, securing the base with clamps. It is possible to additionally equip the yews with clamps special for this purpose.
  2. Screw air supply fittings (M5 thread) into the base and cylinder of the vice; the upper hole in the cylinder serves to supply air to raise the wedge, the lower hole to lower the wedge.
  3. Using pneumatic tubes and fittings, connect the control device - pneumatic distributor.
  4. Installation of the pneumatic distributor and air preparation unit.
  5. Adjustment of the amount of oil in the air mixture is carried out visually. To do this, it is necessary to perform 5 cycles (clamping/unclamping) of the vice, placing a sheet of paper in front of the pneumatic muffler. A minimal amount of oil should appear on the sheet of paper.

Operation procedure

  1. By supplying prepared air to the upper channel located in the vice body, move the wedge to the upper position, thereby moving the jaw.
  2. Loosen the bolts securing the part stop.
  3. Install the product on the yew work table between the part stop and the jaw, press the stop against the part with a gap of 0.5-1.0 mm, tighten the part stop bolts.
  4. By supplying prepared air to the lower channel located at the base of the vice, move the wedge to the lower position, thereby clamping the part with the sponge.
  5. At an air pressure in the system of 5 atm. stop using bolts and T-nuts. When applying pressure in a vice over 5 atm. It is recommended to supplement the fastening of the part stop with pins.

Pneumatic vice TP 95 – G2

The yew mechanism operates only when a prepared mixture of air and industrial oil vapor is supplied. Adjusting the yew to the size of the clamped part is done by moving the part stop. The part is clamped using a wedge mechanism.

  • Working pressure - 1 - 8 bar
  • Sponge stroke - 3 mm
  • Jaw width - 118/150 mm.
  • Repeatability of parts positioning - ±0.002 mm
  • Height of jaws - 36/53 mm.
  • Weight - 17 kg

Construction

The vice consists of a body with an internal wedge mechanism, a working jaw and a workpiece stop.

Operating principle

The wedge mechanism of the vice allows you to turn off the air supply to the vice after clamping the part, while the part remains securely fastened in the vice.

Advantages

  • Increasing equipment productivity by 20-40% due to easy and quick change of parts, reducing worker fatigue, which allows one operator to service a larger number of machines.
  • Stable clamping force on the part.
  • Possibility of smooth adjustment of the clamping force using a pressure regulator.
  • The design features of the working jaw completely eliminate its lifting when clamping a part. Wedge mechanism  ensures clamping of the part even when the air supply stops.
  • High structural rigidity.
  • The special set of the vice allows you to change the direction of the jaw in the opposite direction to clamp a larger part with minimal protrusion above the jaw.
  • Turning the jaw in the opposite direction allows the vice to work to expand to secure parts by the inner diameter
  • Use without constant air pressure, air lines do not interfere with the working area of the machine.
  • Ability to place the vice in different planes for processing parts
  • A set of two jaws and a stop with teeth allows you to clamp workpieces with a width of 15 to 130 mm. inclusive.
