V.A. DEGTYAREV PLANT
The history of the enterprise dates back to 1916, when the construction of the first buildings of the Kovrov Machine Gun Factory began. Literally a year later, the plant presented the first samples of machine guns by the Danish designer Madsen.
Russian Russian and Danish entrepreneurs (at that time the Kovrov Machine Gun Factory was the first Russian joint–stock company) decided to terminate the company's activities by closing the plant a few years later.
In 1918, two outstanding designers V.G. Fedorov and V.A. Degtyarev were sent to the city of Kovrov in order to resume the work of the plant, having established the production of domestic weapons. All the subsequent activities of the plant are connected with the names of these talented scientists.
In 1921, V.G. Fedorov created the first design bureau in the country, where automatic small arms were developed, which later became the weapon of Victory in World War II. Many well-known designers have worked fruitfully at the plant for many years, including V.A. Degtyarev, G.S. Shpagin, S.G. Simonov, P.M., M.M. Goryunov, S.V. Vladimirov, V.E. Voronkov. With the participation of Kovrov specialists, M.T. Kalashnikov was able to prepare the first samples of the legendary AK-47 assault rifle.
The main direction of the enterprise to this day remains the development and production of automatic small arms. JSC "Degtyarev Plant" produces weapons for the Air Force, Navy and army ground forces, which are exported to many countries of the world, but the plant's activities do not end there.
Simultaneously with the production of weapons, the plant constantly produced a variety of consumer goods, spare parts and machine parts, tools (including machine tools).
In 1946, the plant was entrusted with mastering the manufacture and production of a light road motorcycle with a single-cylinder two-stroke engine with a volume of 125 cm3. To do this, the factory creates its own motorcycle production. Thus, another milestone of the Degtyarev Plant was opened – the production of road and sports motorcycles. Kovrovets and Voskhod motorcycles were imported to dozens of countries around the world, participated and took first places in rally raids and international-class competitions. A whole epoch of the development of domestic motocross is connected with the name of the Kovrov plant. JSC "Plant named after V.A. Degtyarev" for its contribution to the development of the motorcycle industry has been repeatedly awarded diplomas and prizes at Russian and international exhibitions.
The development and production of equipment for Minatom enterprises is another important area of ZIDA. The complex used to separate uranium isotopes and developed at the plant is recognized as one of the best in the world.
Today, the catalog of manufactured products contains: packaging equipment for the food industry, motor vehicles (scooters, motorcycles, ATVs), tillage equipment, agricultural equipment, industrial sewing machines, water heaters.
It is difficult to overestimate such products of the "plant. Degtyareva", as tillers and cultivators ZID "Master" and "Favorite", "Leader", which have won consumer recognition for the quality of manufacture, reliability and simplicity of design. It should be noted that the "Favorite", "Leader", "Master" tillers and cultivators can be equipped with various foreign engines (Honda, Briggs & Stratton, Zongshen, etc.), which directly affects their final price and allows the customer to choose a modification that suits him.
