Intuitive user interface
The EPOCH 650 user interface is based on the already proven and well-proven EPOCH 600 flaw detector. It has a simple menu structure for calibration, instrument settings and additional software options; provides direct access to basic control functions such as adjusting the gain and position of the strobe, fixing an A-scan with measurement results and saving files. The EPOCH 650 user interface is available in several languages and is understandable to a specialist of any level of training.
Bright full-format VGA screen
The EPOCH 650 flaw detector is equipped with a full-format VGA display with a resolution of 640 × 480 pixels. The horizontal configuration optimizes the size of the A-scan on the screen, improves the readability of information. The transflective VGA display provides high image quality indoors, in low-light conditions (thanks to the backlight), as well as outdoors, using natural light as a pseudo-illumination. The full-screen mode provides a wide A-scan format from all EPOCH series flaw detectors.
Easy navigation
To meet the needs of users, the EPOCH 650 flaw detector is available in two configurations: with a control knob and a navigation panel.
The knob of the regulator
In EPOCH 650, the knob, along with the CHECK (enter) and ESC (cancel) keys, is used to adjust parameter values in different increments. The user can lock the control knob to avoid accidental changes in parameter values during monitoring. This configuration provides a smooth change of values and is convenient for users who prefer to adjust parameters using a pen. The configuration meets the requirements of IP66.
Navigation Bar
EPOCH 650 is a distinctive feature of EPOCH flaw detectors. The up and down arrows are used for rough parameter settings, and the left and right arrows are used for more precise settings. The navigation bar has additional keys with frequently used functions such as gain control and memory storage. The CHECK and ESC keys are also located here. The configuration with the navigation bar meets the requirements of IP67.
Optimized access to all functions of the EPOCH 650 has excellent ultrasonic characteristics. The digital architecture of the flaw detector is based on the earlier EPOCH 600 and EPOCH 1000 models and provides flexibility and efficiency of pulse generation/reception in accordance with quality control requirements.

Standard software functions
Dynamic DAC/RF curves: calculate the amplitude of the signal as a percentage or dB relative to the DAC curve (correction of the amplitude of the echo signal depending on the distance to the reflector) or the amplitude of the reference echo signal used when setting the RF. DAC versions include standard, ASME, ASME 3, JIS, and custom curves. Some important features are also included here: dynamically adjustable DAC curves, switching between DAC and RF display modes, custom DAC curves for warning signals and 2080% DAC display.
DGS/AVG (ARD charts): This method of determining the size of the defect involves analyzing the echo signal using ARD diagrams corresponding to a specific type of transducer and material. The ARD diagram shows the relationship between the amplitude of the signal, the size of the defect and the distance from the transducer.
AWS D1.1 and D1.5: Displays the dynamic rating of reflectors for weld inspection according to AWS standards. Increases the efficiency of control due to the absence of the need to make calculations manually.
