Description
The standard sensor "N-345"for the VID-345 flaw detector is designed to detect and determine the depth of cracks, including stress-corrosive ones, in metal ferromagnetic structures.
Damage detection and assessment can be performed under a layer of corrosion and/or protective coating.
At the same time, the thickness of the existing corrosion layer and/or protective coating is measured.

The principle of operation of the sensor
Under the action of an alternating magnetic field generatedby the N-345 sensor, eddy currents are excited in the controlled area of the product. Eddy currents in the crack area form scattering magnetic fields, which are detected by the sensor.
At the same time, the distance from the sensor to the controlled metal surface is determined using an alternating magnetic field. Registration of these parameters allows you to measure the thickness of the protective coating or the depth of corrosion damage, as well as to identify and determine the depth of the crack, regardless of the thickness of the protective coating or the depth of corrosion damage.
Magnetic field excitation and reception elements are located on the sensor housing:
- a red LED indicator indicates the presence of a crack.;
- A yellow LED indicator indicates a change in the thickness of the protective layer or the detection of corrosion damage.
A connecting cable is used to connect the sensor to the electronic unit of the flaw detector.
