Description
Type:Epoxy enamel is a two-component system consisting of a semi-finished enamel and a hardener. The semi-finished enamel is a suspension of pigments and fillers in an epoxy resin solution in a mixture of organic solvents with the addition of a hardener.
Scope of application:Enamel is intended for painting pre-primed surfaces made of steel, magnesium, aluminum and titanium alloys, as well as copper and its alloys. It is possible to paint with enamel without priming.
Advantages:Enamel forms a coating that combines high adhesive and physico-mechanical properties of epoxy enamels. An effective combination of high-quality anticorrosive pigments and functional additives creates a high degree of protection of the metal from corrosion, and also provides water, oil and gasoline resistance of the coating.
The enamel coating is resistant to temperature changes from minus 60 ° C to plus 90 ° C.
EP-140 silver enamel is characterized by high temperature resistance (at least 3 hours at a temperature of 250 ° C). Category B2 indicates that this paint and varnish material can be used in all climatic zones.
Surface preparation:
Preparation of the surface of the product for enamel painting is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the TNPA for the product, GOST 9.402 or STB ISO 12944-4.
Oil, grease, marking paint, dirt and other substances, such as mineral impurities, water-soluble salts, affecting the quality of surface preparation, must be removed from the metal surface. It is necessary to remove notches, burrs, welding splashes, round off sharp edges, corners, teeth and welding seams. Then the surface must be thoroughly cleaned of rust, scale and other contaminants, dust-free, degreased and dried. It is most carefully necessary to clean the surface in the area of welds up to 3 cm wide from the remnants of fluxes, alkaline slags and oxides formed during welding.
To improve the protective properties, it is recommended to pre-clean the surface by sandblasting or shot blasting to the degree of purification from oxides 1-2 according to GOST 9.402.

Coating:Enamel is applied by pneumatic and electrostatic spraying methods. It is allowed to apply with a brush or roller.
Before use, the semi-finished enamel is mixed with a hardener, diluted to a working viscosity of 12-14 with a solvent P–5 (GOST 7827) or a mixture of solvents - xylene: acetone: ethylcellosol in a ratio of 40 : 30 : 30. They are kept for 30 minutes in a closed container and applied by pneumatic spraying, pouring or brush.
The enamel is applied at a temperature of not less than 15 ° C and a relative humidity of not more than 65%. The drying time of a single-layer enamel coating with a thickness of 20-25 microns at a temperature of (90 ± 2) ° C is no more than 2 hours, at a temperature of (20 ± 2) ° C no more than 6 hours.

20-25 microns is 75-130 g/m2 without taking into account the preparation, complexity of the painted surface, color and other factors.
Precautions:During the painting works, as well as after their completion, it is necessary to ventilate the room; use personal protective equipment (overalls, safety glasses, rubber gloves).
Keeping:Store the semi-finished enamel in a tightly closed container, protecting it from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep away from fire! The formation of sediment and delamination during storage of the semi-finished enamel is allowed if, after careful mixing and the addition of a hardener, the enamel meets the requirements of the TNPA.
