Metallurgy of a new level: how the portable RFA "Metexpert" is changing the rules of the game in production and customs control!

Share:

In modern metallurgy and scrap processing, time is not just money, it is reputation and the fulfillment of contracts. Waiting for the results of laboratory analysis during the day is becoming a thing of the past. A solution is entering the market that allows you to determine the chemical composition of an alloy in a matter of seconds right on the shop floor, in a warehouse or at a customs post. We are talking about the portable X—ray fluorescence analyzer "Metexpert", a device that is already called the "all-seeing eye" for experts and manufacturers.

From chips to gold: versatility without compromise

The main feature of the new device is its incredible flexibility. Metexpert works with samples of any shape and consistency. Whether it's a pile of aluminum shavings, stainless steel rods on a rack, ferroalloys, ore, liquid samples, or even jewelry — you don't need different equipment for all these tasks.

The analyzer identifies up to 80 chemical elements ranging from sodium (Na) to americium (Am). However, the real breakthrough is the accurate analysis of light elements (Mg, Al, Si, P, S). Thanks to the optimized geometry of the "detector — X—ray tube" and specialized software, the device does not "swallow" light elements, as many portable analogues do, but outputs accurate data. for aluminum, magnesium and titanium alloys.

Device and operating principle of the Metexpert PRFA

Primary X-ray radiation affects the analyzed sample and excites secondary informational X-ray radiation, the spectrum of which completely depends on the elemental composition of the sample.

The calculation of the mass fraction of the analyzed elements is based on the dependence of the intensity of secondary radiation on their percentage content in the sample.

Demonstration of the working window of the Metexpert software

The Metexpert software has four basic operating modes pre-installed:

  • STL — iron-based alloys (steels, stainless steels, nickel-containing alloys)
  • ALM — aluminum and magnesium alloys
  • TIN — titanium alloys
  • YULB — jewelry alloys, bronzes and brass

The user has the option to create custom modes.

Laboratory accuracy in the field

Manufacturers of the device have relied on reliability. A silicon drift detector with a resolution of only 127 eV ensures the purity of the spectrum, and an X-ray tube with a voltage of 45 kV and a service life of 5,000 hours guarantees stable operation even under intense loads.

The measurement error is impressive: when the element content in the alloy is from 1% to 10% It is only ±5%, and for high concentrations (10-100%) it does not exceed 3% at all. This brings the sorting of scrap metal and the input control of raw materials to the factory laboratory level.

Intelligence and security

Metexpert is thought out to the smallest detail. Unlike legacy models, a three-level security system is implemented here:

  • Optical sample sensor (will not turn on in the air)
  • Program intensity control
  • Passive protection

The device operates in extreme conditions: from -35°C in an open warehouse to +45°C in a hot workshop. The autonomy of more than 8 hours allows you to use it for the entire shift without recharging. And the weight of only 2 kg and the shock-resistant case make the work comfortable and durable .

Legality and evidence base

For businesses working with precious metals or undergoing customs control, not only the measurement itself is important, but also its legal significance. Metexpert is certified and has valid certificates of type approval for measuring instruments.

The kit includes certified measurement methods, which allows you to use the analysis results when resolving disputes with suppliers, in courts or when interacting with regulatory authorities.

Who needs it?

  • Metallurgical plants: Express control of the charge and finished products.
  • Customs services: Identification of scrap and precious metals during cross-border transportation in strict accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 442.
  • Jewelry production and assay supervision: The exact composition of gold, silver, and platinum alloys.
  • Geological exploration: Field analysis of ores and cores.

The portable RF "Metexpert" is not just a meter, but a full—fledged tool for quality control and safety of production. Switching to express analysis allows you to eliminate over-sorting, save on logistics of substandard raw materials and fully control the chemistry of the process.
