JSC "Serovsky Mechanical Plant" was founded on November 1, 1931, when one of the workshops of the Nadezhdinsky Metallurgical Plant was allocated and transferred from the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Ferrous Metallurgy to the All-Union State Trust. The first production of the plant was the fulfillment of orders for the Commissariats of railways, aviation, agriculture. Since 1946, the plant has started producing drilling tool parts for geological exploration, oil and gas workers and has become the leading enterprise in the country for the production of drilling and emergency tools for geological exploration.
Among the main consumers of the plant's products are the largest oil and service companies in Russia. Such as: LUKOIL, Surgutneftegaz, Rosneft, Tatneft, and many others.
Mining and exploration tools produced by JSC "Serovsky Mechanical Plant" are used in the fields of Norilsk, Kamchatka, Yakutia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan. Working closely with EvrazHolding, the plant is increasing the volume of supplies of products for the enterprises of this company. Active work is being carried out with the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company (UMMC).

Mining and exploration tools produced by JSC "Serovsky Mechanical Plant" are used in the fields of Norilsk, Kamchatka, Yakutia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan. Working closely with EvrazHolding, the plant is increasing the volume of supplies of products for the enterprises of this company. Active work is being carried out with the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company (UMMC).
The successful location of JSC "Serovsky Mechanical Plant" in the industrial center of the north of the Ural region - the city of Serov with a developed network of railways and highways - allows for mobile and productive interaction with partners. Today it is an enterprise that has modern high-tech equipment. In 2011, the machine park was significantly updated: equipment for processing metal chips was installed, an automated line for mechanical processing of civilian product housings was purchased. 15 CNC machines and an automated phosphating line have been installed.
In 2013, the construction of a new building of the forging and pressing shop was started with its further equipping with the most modern equipment.
The plant has introduced and mastered such modern technologies as ion nitriding, friction welding of dissimilar materials, high-precision electroerosion treatment, hot bulk and cold sheet stamping, hardening of threads, various electroplating and paint coatings, heat treatment of small parts.
With such equipment and highly qualified personnel, the plant successfully competes in the drilling tool market and has the ability to manufacture:
- Tools for oil-producing equipment: drill pipes, wellhead rods, drill locks, coupling couplings for tubing, tubing translators, drill string translators, locks for cattle. Tools for geological exploration equipment: drill locks, core pipes and nipples to them, emergency adapters, taps, bells and pipe keys.
- Tools for mining equipment: submersible pneumatic hammers, drill bits, pneumatic motors, drilling shells, drilling rods, coupling couplings, spare parts for drilling machines.
Every year, the company receives positive feedback about the work of the drilling tool. Together with research institutes, new products are constantly being developed.
