Rotabroach is an English brand with headquarters in Sheffield. The company is a leader among manufacturers of magnetic drilling equipment and cutting tools for them. Offers portable machines proven by many years of experience for drilling holes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

In the early 70s, the English engineer Mr. Dough Hougen invented the Rotabroach core drills and laid the technology of ring drilling, as a completely new system for creating holes by cutting, in the foundation of the company with the same name — 1975.

For a long time, the engineer could not convince industrialists of the need for changes and did not receive interest from large sellers of construction tools. The first positive feedback came directly from the builders, who up to this point had been using "portable" drilling machines weighing about 100 pounds (45 kg) with rapidly wearing out and often breaking spiral drills. The crown drills proposed by Hougen were safe, did not burst and did not break out of the spindle, but did not solve the problem of the weight of the drilling machine itself.

Later, Hougen develops a magnetic drilling machine weighing only 28 pounds (12.70 kg). The invention of a lightweight drilling machine with a magnetic base has significantly increased the popularity and sales of crown drills. Innovative proposals and entrepreneurial abilities of the founder allowed the company to start supplying tools for the automotive industry, nuclear submarines, as well as for space shuttle launches.

Rotabroach comes to Russia

"According to the technology of the company ROTABROCH, a through hole in the metal is drilled almost without chips. For example, in a steel sheet with a thickness of 100 mm, you can drill a hole with a diameter of 50 mm and instead of chips get a core with a diameter of 44 mm, i.e. a steel billet suitable for any machining. At least 2 kg of metal can be saved on each such hole.

To perform chipless holes, the company produces special cutting tools and machines that are magnetized to the processed product. The machine is small and light (weight only 18 kg), but it drills a hole with a diameter of 30 mm in a metal with a thickness of 20 mm in 3 seconds. There are millions of such holes, for example, in the pipe boards of steam boilers and various heat exchangers, in chemical reactors. It is possible to calculate what the labor and metal savings will be, even if the drilled cylinders are simply allowed to be melted down."
