JSC "Obukhov Plant" was founded on May 4 (16), 1863. The Partnership (P.M. Obukhov, N.I. Putilov, S.G. Kudryavtsev) and the Maritime Ministry signed a contract for the construction of a plant on the Shlisselburgsky tract in the village of Alexandrovsky. To do this, Emperor Alexander II ordered to transfer the necessary part of the land of the former Imperial Alexander Manufactory, located 12 versts from St. Petersburg on the banks of the Neva River with all residential buildings and structures located on it: "... this enterprise, if successful, should have state significance regarding the armament of fortresses and the construction of armored ships ..."
JSC "Obukhov Plant" — today is a large metallurgical and machine-building enterprise, part of the "North-Western Regional Center of the Concern East Kazakhstan Region "Almaz-Antey". Metallurgical production has undergone significant changes over the past 6 years. In 2015, a new production complex was put into operation, including a heat treatment site and a precision casting site. In 2017, a new molding shop was put into operation.
