Move to Remscheid-Luttringhausen
High-quality hand tools quickly find buyers in fast-growing craft and industrial enterprises, as well as in the early automotive industry. After a short time, the original forge became too small, and in 1926 the company moved to the Stursberger Höhe in Remscheid-Luttringhausen, where the company's headquarters are still located.
Expansion abroad
In the 60s, GEDORE grew dynamically. In order to keep up with the growing demand, Otto Dovidat decides to adopt a strategy that is almost revolutionary for its time and industry and is expanding abroad. New production facilities are being opened in Brazil, England, Austria and South Africa. At this time, GEDORE is also actively developing innovations such as the DREMOMETER aluminum torque wrench. This competence was expanded with the introduction of the first electronic torque wrench in 1980.
In family hands for generations
Today, the company is a globally active group of companies with more than 2,300 employees in more than 70 countries. Despite such rapid growth, the instrument manufacturer is still in the hands of the family: Karen Dovidat, granddaughter of the company's founder Otto Dovidat, has been managing partner since 2000. Together with his son Christian Dovidat, who was appointed to the Board of GEDORE Holding GmbH by the Shareholders' Decision of 12.02.2019, the Dovidat family consistently follows the path of generational change. Dr. Christian Dovidat has been working for the company for five years and is gradually preparing to take on overall responsibility.

To provide each client with a suitable and individual solution to his problem, GEDORE combines the experience of the entire Group. GEDORE has been on the market since April 2018 under two brands: GEDORE and OCHSENKOPF. The GEDORE brand is divided into two lines: GEDORE and GEDORE red.
