The history of DeWalt

• 1922— Raymond E. DeWalt, design engineer, then managing Seabrook Farms, designs the world's first radial cantilever saw, which served for decades an example of quality and durability. The invention made it possible to achieve greater accuracy and productivity in woodworking processes. One such machine replaced the work of four workers.
• 1924— In Leola, Pennsylvania, R. Dewalt founded the DeWalt Products Company, specializing in the production of stationary equipment for wood processing, including radial cantilever saws. The main product was a universal woodworking machine called DeWalt"Wonder-Worker".
• 1929— DeWalt Products Co. moves to Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
• 1941— DeWalt Products Co. is experiencing a period of rapid growth due to government defense orders during World War II.
• 1947— DeWalt Products Co. completely reorganized and renamed DeWalt Inc.
• 1949— American Machine & Foundry Co., Inc. buys DeWalt Inc
• 1953— DeWalt Inc. occupies a dominant position in the Canadian market, where forms a subsidiary of DeWalt Canada Ltd.
• 1960— Acquires patent for Bennett Two-way Panel Saw.
• 1960— American Machine & Foundry Co., Inc. sells DeWalt Inc. to Black & Decker, which on March 12, 2010, as a result of the merger with Stanley Works, becomes Stanley Black & Decker
• 1967— The grinding machine was introduced for the first time.
• 1971— DeWalt creates compact machines for cutting ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
• 1992— Brand update in the USA, yellow-black color scheme. Positioning as an industrial tool. DeWalt presents its first line of portable power tools and accessories, designed specifically for both domestic and professional applications.
1994— DeWalt launches a series of more than 30 cordless power tools, including the most powerful 14-volt drill/wrench and a 5-inch saw for its time. In addition, the DeWalt series of cordless tools includes screwdrivers, impact wrenches, saws, flashlights and the first combined tool— drill/screwdriver/impact drill.
• 1995— Entering the European market.
• 1998— Creation of an 18 V battery system.
• 1999— Creation of a 24 V battery system.
• 2000— DeWalt acquires Momentum Laser Inc. and Emglo Compressor Company, thanks to which the model range is replenished with new unique devices.
• 2002— The range continues to grow, lasers, nail clippers, compressors and 10-kilogram jackhammers appear.
• 2005— DeWalt is the fastest growing brand in the world according to Fortune magazine research. Release of the 36V Li-Ion battery system.
• 2007— Output of a 30-kilogram jackhammer.
• 2008— Release of the world's first rechargeable submersible saw.
• 2009— Development of a unique XPS (Cross Cut Positioning System) system- illumination of the workpiece on the miter saws. The beginning of the production of laser rangefinders.
• 2011— Development and release of a fundamentally new platform for battery tools of the XR LITHIUM series-ION voltage of 10.8, 14.4, 18.0 Volts.
• 2012— Production of rechargeable power tools on the XR platform with brushless motors.
• 2016— The release of the revolutionary FLEXVOLT system, which is a line of brushless 54 V tools, and a rechargeable battery that automatically switches the voltage from 54 V to 18, and vice versa, depending on the tool used.

DeWalt today

DeWalt continuously tests its products on construction sites to identify strong and the weak points of the instrument. Each new engineering solution or upgrade is dictated by the desire to increase productivity, safety, and ease of operation.
