The second number identifies the cam type and body material.

For spiral chucks:

2 - 3-cam / cast iron body;

5 - 3-cam / steel body;

6 - 4-cam / cast iron body;

7 - 4-cam / steel body;

8 - 6-cam / steel body / cast iron body;

9 - collet chucks.

For chucks with independent jaw movement and combination chucks:

3 - chucks with independent movement of the jaws:

5 - 3-cam / cast iron body;

6 - 4-cam / cast iron body;

7 - 3-cam / steel body;

8 - 4-cam / steel body.

The third number indicates the type of cartridge fit:

0 - cylindrical fit through the adapter flange - DIN 6350;

1 - tapered fit type A - DIN 55026;

3 - conical fit type C for swivel washer - DIN 55027;

4 - conical fit type D - DIN 55029 (Camlock);

5 - L-type fit - long cone (L0, L00, L1, L2);

6 - fit with adjustment (precision);

7 - cylindrical fit with frontal mounting - DIN6350;

8 - threaded connection - DIN 800.

The fourth digit is the cam type.

For spiral chucks:

4 - solid cams;

5 - prefabricated cams.

For chucks with independent jaw movement:

4 - solid cams / cast iron body;

5 - prefabricated cams / cast iron body;

6 - solid cams / steel body;

7 - prefabricated cams / steel body.

After four digits, there is an indication of the diameter of the chuck and, if it has a tapered fit, the size of the cone is indicated.

Example: cartridge 3534-315-8

3 - spiral self-centering chuck;

3 - tapered fit according to DIN 55027 for a swivel washer;

4 - chuck with one-piece hardened jaws;

315 - cartridge diameter 315mm;

8 - the size of the connecting cone.

Bison-bial also makes "CT" type lathe chucks. These cartridges comply with GOST 2675-80 and come in 3 accuracy classes: A - extra high, B - high and P - increased.

Example: CTOO-250 F6 B chuck means that it is a self-centering 3-jaw steel chuck with an outer diameter of 250 mm, swivel washer mount on a spindle with a No. 6 taper of accuracy class B.
