ZAVOLZHSKY PLANT OF TRACKED TRACTORS

To work in mountainous, swampy, snow-covered or sandy terrain, snow-and-swamp-moving, floating vehicles of high cross-country capability were required. At this time, the first tracked conveyor GAZ-71 GT-SM was developed. This was the first victory of the plant's team in the development of mass production of a new type of product. From this moment, the gradual commissioning of technological lines of individual sections and workshops, the installation of new technological equipment begins.

The assembly line, the welding and painting section of the housings, the section of large-scale stamping of the body parts began to work. Production lines for support rollers, balancer processing, torsion shafts, non-ferrous casting and a number of others have been introduced. The assembly of the main, on-board gears, bilge pumps and fan drive units has been mastered.

The achievements of recent years have been associated with the development and launch into mass production of the floating snowmobile GAZ-34039 "Irbis", the two-link floating conveyor-tractor GAZ-3344, the snowmobile GAZ-3409 "Beaver" and the floating snowmobile 5901 with a load capacity of 5 tons.
