DeWalt ranks first in terms of overall ergonomics. Their combination of tools that fit comfortably in the hand, compactness and light weight, is second to none at this stage. We love this set for combining powerful tools with a nice and comfortable grip. 

We also like that this particular DeWalt kit includes their flagship FlexVolt Advantage 20V impact drill, as well as their best impact driver. You also get a full-size saber saw. Ryobi PSBCK06K ONE + HP 18V Brushless Combo Kit with 6 tools. 

The new line of Ryobi One + HP tools made a lasting impression on us. Ryobi is consistently the best price when it comes to entry-level tools. While they don't quite match the build quality you'd get from brands like Milwaukee, DeWalt, or Makita, Ryobi provides a 3-year limited warranty on their tools. After you buy this kit, add a larger circular saw and consider getting a full-size band saw. However, how to beat these tools for just such a cost?

We also like the value that the options from the Kobalt 24V line of tools represent, as well as what you can find from Ridgid. Both supply high-performance brushless combo kits comparable in price. For both Ridgid and Kobalt, the limit is the number of tools available on their battery platform. However, as they continue to expand, they will both be legitimate options as the main Pro platform.

Skil PWRCORE 12 is a brushless combo set of 6 tools.

In fact, it is difficult to get a full-fledged combined set for 12 V. However, if you are set to 12V, Skil will take care of you. They do a unique job of providing a wide range of tools in this category. The PWRCore 12 line seems ideal for those who need smaller, ergonomic tools for light work. In particular, we like the presence of a 5.5-inch circular saw and a rectangular punch. The kit also includes a pair of PWRCore 12V batteries. Almost like the cherry on the cake, they added the Skil 12V inflator, which we thought was a great product.

After purchasing this kit, you can also add a Skil 12V jigsaw and possibly their 12V brushless reciprocating saw.
