Hydraulic wrenches (or hydraulic torque wrenches)
What is it?
First of all, it is a tool designed for tightening and unscrewing threaded connections with controlled torque.
What are the goals (advantages) of creating wrenches?

Increase the speed of repair work, assembly and disassembly of various products.

Improve the quality and accuracy of tightening threaded connections.

Ability to work with threaded connections in hard-to-reach places

Currently, due to the wide recognition of wrenches by specialists working in various industrial fields, their scope of application has significantly expanded:

Types of wrenches
There are two main types of hydraulic wrenches, namely:
- End (shown in Fig.1)

Specifics of the work
Hydraulic wrenches of the end type are usually used for dismantling works that require a lot of effort, for a corroded threaded connection. Cassette wrenches are more versatile and are mainly used when working in hard-to-reach places.

How to choose a hydraulic wrench?
There is a table of recommended tightening force of bolts and nuts, which will help in choosing a torque wrench.

The table shows the maximum tightening torque of the bolt, the recommended torque is 80% of the one specified in the table.

The recommended tightening torque is equal to the one indicated in the table multiplied by (80-90%). For example, thread M48, degree of strength – 10.9; torque – 5592x90% = 5032.8 Nm.

The recommended torque for loosening the part is approximately 150% of the tightening torque. For example, the tightening torque is 5032.8 times 1.5 (2) = 7549.5 (10065.6) Nm.
Also due to the presence of restrictions on the distance, please pay attention to the location of the parts. Below are a number of examples:
In the above situations, it is not possible to use an end-type hydraulic wrench, use a cassette-type wrench.
